STP Racing confirms MV Agusta link
STP unveils news of an Italian connection
Matt Whitman and Victor Cox will ride for rising team, STP Racing in 2007. Matt Whitman who was the runner up in the 2006 Virgin Mobile Cup will be riding a Yamaha R1 in the BSB Superstock Championship.
Popular rider, Victor "The Vicar" Cox will be testing a GIMotorsports prepared MV Agusta in Valencia on the 7th January. GIMotorSports took Ayrton Badovini to third place in the exciting European Superstock 1000 Championship in 2006. GIMotorSports are the italian team supported by the MV Agusta factory.
Jon Strike, the team principal, said "We need to keep our options open at the moment. We have been talking to GIMotorsports and MV since late 2005 but certain reliability problems caused us some concern about running them in the 2006 season. These problems however have now been sorted and certainly the MV Agusta was very competitive in Europe this season [2006] and had a number of race wins. Victor knows the team really well and has been to Milan with me a couple of times to discuss the possibility of bringing the bikes over to run in the BSB Superstock Championship. It would be really interesting to see and hear something a bit different from the usual Japanese machinery and I'm sure it will help spice up the Championship as well."
Once the test has taken place Strike will announce the plans for STP Racing for 2007 which is expected to confirm that Cox will be riding a 2007 MV Agusta F4 1000 for the season with Matt Whitman on 2007 Yamaha R1s.

News Update
As we rush towards Christmas our plans for the 2007 season are getting nearer completion. We are purchasing new 2007 Yamaha R1s for next year and will again be entering the British Superbike Superstock Championship.
One problem that we, and all the other Yamaha teams, are facing is the lack of the new bikes. They won't be in this country untill mid to late January, which gives us very little time to rebuild the bikes and get them tested. Ideally, we are planning to go to Spain late in February if the bikes are ready, otherwise we will have to do what testing we can here in the cold.
We have other exciting developments coming together but contracts haven't been signed yet. We will announce these as soon as we can, and you can be sure that 2007 will be another full on year for STP.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our riders, team and supporters a very merry Christmas and a succesful new year.
Please keep visiting the site as we will add to it as things happen.

Silverstone BSB Test Day
We were at the Silverstone BSB test yesterday with Phil Bevan ,Victor Cox and Matt Whitman. We were very disappointed that there was no official timing there, but nevertheless everyone enjoyed the day.
Vic's bike needed a bit of work after his off at Cadwell and Phil's needed a lot of suspension changes having just competed in the NG Road Racing Round at Pembrey where he was running on slicks, so it was quite a busy day for Kevin. Everyone agreed it had been a worthwhile exercise.
News
Congratulations to Nico Lovell and Hayley Watts on the birth of their baby boy Lewis, from all at Team STP Racing. (Nico is a friend of Victor's and has been helping with bike preparation at the BSB races.) Don't take this as an excuse to miss any more races though!

NG Road Racing Championship Standings after Brands Hatch (Rounds 7/8)
Justin Waite #19 won both Powerbike races at Brands Hatch and he came 2nd and 3rd in the two open races. This extends his lead in the Powerbike Championship to 48 points over second place rider Gary Teague #8 with 104 points, and puts him 9 points clear in the L & J Open ahead of second place rider, again Gary Teague #8.
The overall Club Championship results put Justin up 1 place from 5th to 4th.

BSB support race at Donington Moto GP 1st & 2nd July
We can now confirm that Aussie 'DJ' Dave Jonson #89 will be joining Vic at Donington for the Superstock Championship Races on Saturday and Sunday 1st and 2nd July aboard the STP Superstock R1s.
'DJ' is currently racing in the Dutch Superbike series and has recently managed a fantastic two second place finishes. He last rode for us at Oulton and unfortunately was knocked off whilst in 4th place. Hopefully when dates don't conflict he will be riding with Vic a few more times this season.
NG Road Racing News
This weekend Jed #19 is off to Brands Hatch to compete in the Phoenix Powerbike and the L & J open Races. Unfortunately his close rival Steve Lake will not be there, and he doesn't look likely to race again for the rest of the season after a 170mph crash at the Castle Coombe Superbike Grand National two weeks ago. The accident left him with a shattered elbow and shoulder injuries. Steve is always at the sharp end of any race and at the moment he is in 2nd place to Jed in the Phoenix Powerbikes and in 1st place with Jed 2nd in the L & J Open.
Jed and all the STP Team wish Steve a full and speedy recovery and he will be missed on the track this season, but hopefully we will see him in the paddocks again soon.

So if you have spare time over the weekend, do come down and say hello. Rodney Gooch from Castle Coombe Circuit has promised us good weather for the weekend -- so no need to bring your mac!

Oulton Park Meeting
Well it's off to Oulton this weekend for the fourth round of the National Superstock championship. Joining Victor and Phil will be the 23 year old Aussie Dave Johnson #89, riding for us as a one off wildecard. Dave did the National Superstock last year and has lots of experience. He rode at Brands Hatch this year on the Drayton Croift/Xpress Racing 2003 Suzuki GSXR 1000, achieving a fantastic 6th place on such an old (in racing terms) bike. He will be competing in the Superstock Campionship alongside Victor so we are hoping for some good results and of course some points this weekend.

Snetterton Test Weekend
Meanwhile, Victor, Phil and Matt were on the other side of the country attending the first official test weekend for British Superbikes at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk. The weather was no better there and was bitterly cold. Victor and Phil had three half hour sessions on Saturday and three on Sunday so there was plenty of time to get dialled in.
Saturday saw them both improving steadily, however both had to come in before the sessions ended suffering from the cold. Sunday was warmer and after a few suspension changes both were on a charge with Victor finishing eighth overall and Phil fourteenth and fastest of the Superstock Cup riders.
Matt, who was to have his first ride on his brand new Yamaha R6 Cup bike on Sunday, got food poisoning on Saturday night and was unable to ride. This means that he will have to run his new bike in at the free practise session at Brands next week. The pressure is on!
All in all it was a very successful weekend for STP. We are off to Brands Hatch next weekend for the first race of the British Superbike Calender. Watch this space!

Brands Hatch Test
We went testing at Brands Hatch yesterday on a Hottrax trackday and although it was very cold with a maximum temperature of 4 degrees, the circuit was dry and the sun shone. Unfortunately the day was fully booked and we got the last places in the intermediate group. This caused a few problems with slower riders, however luckily we were able to move into the ACU group for the afternoon, thanks to the very helpful Hottrax staff.
The morning was spent getting the suspension set up and generally getting dialled in. Both Victor and Phil consistantly improved on their laptimes and by the afternoon were comfortably on the pace. Both riders were happy with their progress and are looking forward to the first British Superbike test weekend at Snetterton next weekend.
6 March 2006
Donnington Test
Well, we had an interesting day at Donington with everything that a day in March could throw at us.
The morning started overcast and cold with a few spots of rain. The riders went out on intermediates and were getting on ok despite the lack of track temperature.
The first and second sessions were spent getting dialled into the full circuit and getting the right line for the Melbourne loop. All the riders were upping the pace and looking good.
They came in at the end of the second session and it was decided that a cup of tea was the order of the day. As we walked over to the pitstop diner a few flakes of snow started to fall - then more and soon we were in the middle of a snow storm! An early lunch was called and we changed the tyres to wets just in case a miracle happened.
After an hour we decided that enough was enough and started to gather everything together to pack up. Just then the snow stopped, the sun came out and the day was restarted. We managed three sessions in the afternoon and couldn't believe our luck. Not the best day's testing we've ever had, but we got some wet settings and a few miles more practise.
We are off to Brands Hatch testing next Monday, so let's hope the weather doesn't follow us there!
3 March 2006
Pembrey Test Weekend
Last weekend was the test weekend for NG Road Racing at Pembrey Circuit. The weather was extremely cold all weekend making for difficult riding conditions with many offs, however our riders were amongst the quickest there, which was a good result.
On Monday 6th March we are off testing at Donington and are hoping for some warmer weather and a chance to fine tune the suspension settings ahead of the first NG race of the season at Pembrey on March 18th and 19th.
That weekend is also the first official test weekend for BSB at Snetterton where Phil and Victor will be in attendance.
8 February 2006
Andrew Thomas
Unfortunately Andrew Thomas will be unable to race for us this season due to LANDING a new job as an airline pilot (no pun intended). He will however remain part of Team STP and will be attending as many races as his new job allows.
Everyone at Team STP wishes Andrew well in his new job and looks forward to seeing him at the meetings this season.

Jason Jones Memorial Trust
TEAM STP RACING will be showing our race truck and race bikes in Hereford's High Town on Saturday, 21st January, as the centrepiece of The Jason Jones Memorial Trust Awareness Day.
The Jason Jones Memorial Trust was set up at the end of 2005 in the memory of a local Hereford teenager who was tragically killed in a road traffic accident. Jason was riding his off-road motorcycle at Rotherwas Industrial Estate, Hereford. He was part of a group en-route to an unofficial area of land which was regularly used by local teenagers to ride their machines off-road when the accident happened.
Following this tragedy a committee was set up to raise awareness of the desperate need for action to provide a facility for children and teenagers to be able to enjoy their hobby of riding motorcycles in a safe, secure environment away from residential areas.
Team STP Racing is very keen to support youngsters, and what better way than to help provide a purpose built track with supervision where our young people can safely enjoy their hobby with practical help and encouragement. The plan is to provide a Challenge Track, a Novice Track, a Mini-Moto/Tarmac Area and an Education/Training Centre with workshops.
If you are in or around Hereford on the 21st why not pop by and say hello - we'll be glad to meet you.

Autosport International Show
We were at the recent Autosport International show held at the NEC Birmingham, 12-15 January 2006. We had been asked by Steve Coull from Jemtech if we could provide a bike as a showpiece for their stand, and we were very happy to do this. Victor and Kevin were also on the stand, and both had a good time, as can be seen from the pictures.
The show gave us the opportunity to meet other exibitors, many of whom were very enthusiastic about what we are doing this season. Hopefully some were impressed enough to think about sponsoring us.
A big thankyou to Steve for making us feel so welcome on the stand and for providing us with a lot of useful information and help on how to approach potential sponsors. It seems that we shall be very busy for the next few weeks.

Preparation for 2006
Well as Christmas approaches, we at Team STP are trying to get everything organised for 2006. As you can see we have set ourselves a very big hill or is it a mountain to climb for next season.
We should be testing some new bikes in Cartagena, Spain during the first or second week of January and depending on the results we will be deciding on what bikes we will be competing on in 2006. Usually the decision as to what bikes would have been made long ago but all will become clear soon, we hope.
Keep watching this space for more developments!
